For Tesla Vehicles - Charge HQ monitors energy consumption using data provided by the API connection directly with the Tesla vehicle. This interface constantly reports the rate of charge of the vehicle.
For Smart Chargers - once the charger is connected to our servers, it regularly reports the rate of charge of the vehicle when in use.
In both cases, we constantly collect the charging status data and use it to provide charging stats.
Charge HQ does not need or make use of dedicated circuit level monitoring for the EV charger (or wall outlet it's connected to for mobile chargers).
