All homes have a limit on how much power they can draw from the grid at a given point in time. In some cases this limit is high enough that with all appliances turned on and the EV charging the limit is not reached. In others, the addition of EV charging will exceed the limit. In such cases dynamic load control or load balancing can be used to dynamically adjust the EV rate of charge to utilise available capacity whilst also not exceeding the home limit.
Charge HQ cannot currently provide this service.
If you need this service, a number of smart chargers offer it by using a local sensor which monitors your total grid consumption.
If you would like to continue using Charge HQ, charging from solar and limiting grid charging to overnight periods when other appliances are not in use may help avoid hitting the limits.
We plan to review such a feature in future but note that it may not be possible. The speed that Charge HQ reacts will be limited by the data feeds which are typically in minutes, vs local systems which can react at the second level.
